What are the eligibility requirements to receive a pension?

If you have earned 5 years of vesting service after January 1, 1999 and are 55 years old, you are eligible to receive a vested pension. Prior to 1999, you must have earned 10 years of vesting service.

If your benefit is governed by the Rehabilitation Plan and your benefits are determined under the Standard Plus Schedule:

  • and you have 20 or more pension credits at age 60 while you were in covered employment, you are eligible to receive a regular pension; or
  • before January 1, 2009, you have 20 or more pension credits at age 45 while you were in covered employment, you are eligible to receive a regular pension; or
  • before January 1, 2009, you have 15 or more pension credits at age 55 while you were in covered employment, you are eligible to receive a regular pension.

If your benefit is governed by the Rehabilitation Plan and your benefits are determined under the Standard Plus Schedule and you have 20 or more pension credits at age 57 while you were in covered employment, you are eligible to receive an early retirement pension.
